This café became our place for both breakfast and late evening gatherings. Located right in the heart of the city, with a beautiful square nearby and a wonderful menu, it quickly became one of our favorite spots. We really enjoyed everything, but especially the staff — everyone was incredibly kind, welcoming, and always ready to help. ✨

Class apart !! Absolutely loved my experience at this café !! The service was exceptional—every staff member was warm, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome, we were taken care by Miss ALESSIA and she was amazing with her service . The menu had a fantastic variety of options, and the quality was outstanding, whether you're looking for a classic espresso or something more unique, there's something for everyone. The elegant atmosphere, excellent service, and delicious coffee make this place well worth a visit. Highly recommend!

If you're looking for an authentic Italian breakfast experience in Florence, this place is a must-visit. The café has a lively coffee bar atmosphere that makes you feel like you're experiencing the city just like the locals. The ordering process is part of the experience—you first pay and collect a ticket, then present it at the coffee counter where your order is freshly prepared. It's a simple, efficient system that adds to the authentic Italian vibe. We enjoyed delicious coffee and chocolate cornettos, both of which were excellent. The cornettos were light, flaky, and generously filled, while the coffee was rich and flavorful. We also grabbed some takeaway to enjoy later, and the quality was just as good. Overall, it's a fantastic spot for a quick breakfast or coffee break. Great coffee, amazing cornettos, and a genuine local atmosphere make this a place I'd happily recommend to anyone visiting Florence.

Walking into Caffè Gilli felt like stepping into the Florence I had imagined before coming to Italy. The atmosphere, the elegance, the pastries, the coffee, everything was exactly what I wanted and more. It felt timeless. One of those places where you actually want to slow down and stay longer. If you love historic cafés, beautiful interiors, and that classic old-world Florence feeling, this place is absolutely worth experiencing. 100% one of my favorite memories from Florence. The tiramisu was AMAZING!

Location is amazing, right in the center of Florence with a beautiful atmosphere and great people-watching. The pastries and desserts look absolutely stunning. Prices are definitely on the expensive side — €5 for a single espresso — but honestly, for such a famous historic café in this location, it’s part of the experience. The espresso itself was excellent: strong, smooth, and full of flavor. A lovely place to sit down and enjoy Florence for a while.

Gilli was truly one of the highlights of my trip to Florence. The atmosphere is elegant, timeless, and full of history. Sitting by the window overlooking Piazza della Repubblica while enjoying a beautiful dessert made for an unforgettable experience. The Millefoglie was absolutely exceptional. The pastry was perfectly crisp and buttery, with a light, silky cream filling that was rich without being overly sweet. Easily one of the best desserts I’ve ever had. A special thank you to our servers, Sharlin and Alessio, who made the experience even more memorable. He was warm, attentive, professional, and genuinely welcoming. His recommendations were excellent, and his hospitality reflected the charm and sophistication of Gilli. If you’re visiting Florence, don’t miss this historic café. My wife said Caffè Gilli had some of the best scrambled eggs she has had in her life :). I enjoyed my chocolate eclair and REALLY enjoyed the mini croissant egg and truffle sandwich, so much so that I ordered multiple! High quality coffee. Super nice outdoor seating area looking out towards the carousel on Piazza della Repubblica, shady and cool during the recent hot days. Service was relatively quick despite it being very busy. Definitely money well spent and we would highly recommend!

First opened in 1733 and it definitely looks the part, beautiful surroundings for your morning coffee and treat. If you order at the bar it's so much cheaper than sitting. For €9 we got 2 coffee's and 2 croissants (they were great !). I think that's the cheapest quick breakfast we have had in Italy because we didn't sit at a table and by far one of the best

Stopped by for lunch and coffee and had such a lovely experience. The outdoor seating area is beautifully organized, with tables thoughtfully arranged to create a comfortable atmosphere. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed and seated. Our waiter, Egidio, was wonderful — very friendly, attentive, and helpful with the menu. Since I’m pregnant, I had quite a few questions about the food to make sure I was choosing safe options. Elena also came to assist and reassured me that the restaurant is very pregnancy-friendly, with ingredients being pasteurized and dishes properly cooked. She was incredibly kind and made sure to check on me throughout our visit. The food and coffee were excellent, and despite the restaurant being busy, the team maintained such a warm and positive atmosphere. Truly a great experience.
